About Sierra Watercolor Society
Our Mission
The mission of the Sierra Watercolor Society (SWS) is to foster, sustain, and increase interest and skills in the art of watermedia painting through the sponsorship of meetings, educational programs, displays, and exhibitions. SWS shares the common love of watermedia among its members and the public, and promotes the attainment and maintenance of a high standard of art by its members.
A Message from the President of SWS
Welcome to the website for Sierra Watercolor Society! We are a thriving group, some 200 strong, of painters of all levels of expertise. We are a non-profit organization, with ties to the community we live in. Our“Art Angel Program” has been in existence for several years to enable local elementary students to paint and enjoy art. We provide the supplies and the people to assist in the classrooms, and the student takes his or her work home!
During the course of the year we have several meetings of the general membership, click on the info icon to learn about them. We have workshops with well known guest artists as instructors to expand our skills and enjoyment of the art we produce. Also there are usually four exhibits during the year, one is a juried show in the fall, and all are open to the public. This information is also included in this website.
If you are a painter in any form of water media, or are interested in becoming a painter, we welcome you to SWS. Come as a guest to one of our general meetings to see if this is what you would like to do-- we hope you will stay to paint, make new friends, and become one of our group. There are an amazing number of talented people here!
Sincerely,
Joan Garrett, President 2010
